OTTAWA - Today,
Stéphane Dion, Leader of the Official Opposition,
announced the appointment of Omar Alghabra, Member
of Parliament for Mississauga-Erindale, as Official
Opposition Critic for Citizenship and Immigration.
Mr. Dion redefined roles for MPs in the Liberal
caucus. This new structure will ensure that the
government is held accountable and that their
policies are reflective of the needs of Canadians.

by this appointment and I look forward to this
important position on our Dream Team," said
Alghabra. "The immigration file is vital to the
success of our country and I intend on approaching
it in a creative and constructive way."

function in advocating for progressive policies that
better serve the needs of our society.

Citizenship and
Immigration Canada (CIC) is a significant portfolio
that deserves dedicated focus and renewed energy.
Mr. Alghabra recognizes the great responsibility
attached to this role and will be working with
Canadians across the country to tackle crucial
matters with a fresh and effective approach.
