 The Honourable Navdeep Singh Bains, MP for Mississauga-Brampton South and Omar Alghabra, MP for Mississauga-Erindale hold a Community Forum on the Environment 

MISSISSAUGA The Honourable Navdeep Singh Bains, MP for Mississauga-Brampton South and Omar Alghabra, MP for Mississauga-Erindale hosted a forum with local environmentalists entitled Greening The Mainstream: Making The Truth About The Environment Convenient.  The event which attracted over 200 local residents featured a screening of the award- winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth followed by a discussion with local environmental experts.

“It is important for Mr. Alghabra and me to have a chance to hear what our constituents think on today’s key issues,” said Mr. Bains.  “This event has been a great learning experience for everyone involved.  Battling climate change is one of the great challenges of our generation.” 

“The realities that will be faced by an ever warmer world are hard to imagine,” said Mr. Alghabra.  “This event not only brought attention to the climate change issue, but also was a learning experience for all those in attendance, including Mr. Bains and myself.”  

The discussion, led by panelists Professor GWK Moore, Professor Matthew Hoffmann, Dr. Brad Bass, and Mr. Chris Lowry, focussed on how to create a better environmentally sustainable community.  Many residents took the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns during the hour long discussion. 

“I wish to thank Professor GWK Moore, Professor Matthew Hoffmann, Dr. Brad Bass, and Mr. Chris Lowry for their help in making this event possible,” said Mr. Alghabra.  “The knowledge and experience were critical to the success of the event.”
